what happens in vegas

A few weeks ago, I took a quick trip to Las Vegas to participate in a strategic planning meeting with The National Needleart Associations’ (TNNA’s) Yarn Group.

Yes, Vegas!

This was my first (and probable last) Vegas trip, so I wanted to see a few sights, like the fountains at the Bellagio, the beautiful glass ceiling in the Bellagio’s lobby (above), and I really really wanted to eat at a Bobby Flay restaurant.

Missions achieved.

mesa grill

(BTW, the meal at MESA grill was absolutely amazing, from superb service to unbelievably good food.)

But … this was a working trip!  I spent a day and a half meeting with yarn manufacturers and hand dyers, knitting designers and teachers, yarn shop owners, distributors, etc.  We talked about the state of yarn and knitting.  The effects of the internet, social media, economy, etc.  We were all on the same page and walked away excited about our strategy.

Mind you, I’ve walked – or limped – away from MANY strategic planning meetings that didn’t go as smoothly and end as well.  It was a great experience and I’m so glad I participated.

mountain of yarn to skein

I returned to mountains of yarn to reskein, but that’s what it’s all about, so seemed appropriate!

If you work in the yarn or knitting/crochet/fiber industry (or wish to), you can be a part of the Yarn Group with TNNA!  We have many exciting and valuable changes ahead, including resources for yarn shop owners, knitters, designers, yarn dyers, etc.
