when you have to wait … knit

waiting by phydeaux desi

Since Mom’s cancer diagnosis last year, I’ve had to learn the art of waiting.

Waiting to make appointments.  Waiting for the appointments.  Waiting in exam and waiting rooms.

Waiting, waiting, waiting.

I’m not a natural at this.  I don’t stand in lines.  I can’t bear waiting for my number to be called.  I’m not patient.  There is always something better to do.

Knitting, Hulu, sleeping kitties #goodnight

So thank goodness for knitting!  I can knit standing up in a line at the pharmacy.  Sitting.  You name it.

It helps to knit something that doesn’t require following a pattern or chart.  I’ve been knitting new samples using Phydeaux yarns.  So perfect.

This year will involve even more waiting.  Which I will happily do – I love my mom beyond belief.  But I’m also getting better at making sure that there’s always a project in my purse.  Just in case.  I’ve learned that when it comes to waiting, it’s best to be prepared.

My dear, I’ve been wondering lately about your mom. I pray that she and you are both doing well. The first photo reminds me of going to medical appointments with my own mother, and it brings tears to my eyes.

Knitting can be a blessing during such times. It’s so zen-like and prayerful. You second photo is a beautiful mandela of color.

All the best to you and your mom. May every day yield some peace and hope.

I also have been through this with my mom. God bless you both. We also eventually involved Hospice and they are true angels. They will help you.
