country livin’

beauty + utility
I just returned home from nearly two weeks in the country, visiting my folks.  Country living is very different from big city living:

  1. Tiny town USA, pop. 5,000, still has a Taco Bell, Subway Sandwich, 7-11, McDonald’s, and a brand new Burger King.
  2. But no yarn shop.
  3. Lots of Wrangler’s jeans and cowboy boots (only Levi’s or designer jeans in the big city).
  4. Cowboy hats vs. fedoras.
  5. For an agricultural community, the shipped in produce at the big grocery store in town was embarrassing.

I’d better get used to it, though, because I’ll be spending a lot of time in tiny town USA starting next month.  More to follow on that!

tiny town usa is my dream right now. I’m a city mouse who romanticizes life as a country mouse. just want more space, less noise (& people), and more nature…

You’d love it here! I love living in the sticks myself – but it’s going to be a big change, since I’ve lived in the Bay Area (super fast pace living) for more than 20 years. 🙂
