Do you know that I spend the entire year dreading July and August? That’s how much I hate the heat.
And I grew up in the desert.
Knock on wood, but with the seriously weird weather this year, we still seem to be about two months behind. It’s the third week of July, prime time to DIE if you’re someone like me, and it’s kind of nice outside.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s very warm to hot, but not (knock on wood again) unbearably hot.
I did use a sunblock mesh across my triple glass back door which is keeping things much much cooler. I’m not even pretending not to keep my bedroom’s window a/c running 24/7 (there’s NO shade on that part of the house). My cats are occasionally sitting on my lap and even letting me pet them (this time of year, they are usually melted puddles of fur).
I don’t know if this means we’ll lose out on my very favorite season – Autumn – with record temperatures through November. I’m thinking positively.
I know that most of the country IS dealing with record temperatures, which always worries me – selfishly – for my neck of the woods. I hope it stays just as it has – mid to high 80’s with a light breeze.
What’s it like in your neck of the woods right now? How do you stay cool when the temps soar?
