A new shawlette design, knit with Pigeonroof Studios Siren 2 sock yarn, which is amazingly soft and silky (must be the cashmere, le sigh)!
The colorway shown above is “dolmas” (doesn’t that make you hungry for a delicious Greek dinner?).
I actually picked up three skeins of dolmas last summer, planning to knit my very own Goodale with it (this is a perfect Brenda color!). I kept putting off doing so as I prepared first for the Renegade Craft Fair, then the Fall rush, then the Holiday rush.
Which worked out perfectly! Because I’d been working on this design off and on since last Summer, working out how to create a symmetrical daisy stitch pattern (more about that when I release the pattern!). I finally came up with the best solution just after Christmas, but knowing that this particular stitch eats up yarn, didn’t know that one skein would be sufficient. And then remembered that I had those three luscious skeins of Pigeonroof.
I had planned on a super textured deep knitted on lace edging while knitting the body, but when it came time to commit to a decision … it just didn’t feel right. I wanted to continue the strong texture of the body, but the several edging options I tried just didn’t work for me. I kept thinking about a ribbed edging, but how boring is that?
But hit on a brioche ribbed stitch that I really liked, complete with bobbles. Perfection and happiness. And shouldn’t every knitting design have a happy ending?
